A legend called "Le Taillevent"

Le Taillevent has successfuly preserved a precious legacy, handing it down over time: that of France's high gastronomy.

Since its creation by André Vrinat in 1946, Le Taillevent has risen to the rank of the finest gastronomic tables, celebrating France's culinary art down the ages. The restaurant first opened at 35 rue Saint-Georges before moving in 1952 into a sumptuous 19th-century mansion, built for the Duke of Morny, a stone's throw from the Champs-Élysées.

Its name pays homage to Guillaume Tirel, known as Taillevent, author of the "Viandier", one of the first cookbooks dating back to the late Middle Ages. Nothing foretold the success of Le Taillevent. And yet, since its first years, it was always full. The most discerning Parisian gourmets were regulars, drawn by the menu's quality and the joys of dining. It won its first distinction in the Michelin Guide in 1948, just two years after opening, then a second in 1956. A third star awarded in 1973 placed Le Taillevent definitively among the top French restaurants. Since then, successive chefs have taken care to perpetuate this tradition through their talent and irreproachable service, but also an exceptional cellar with thousands of references of wines and spirits.

At the initiative of the Gardinier brothers, owners since 2011, Le Taillevent was treated to a second lease of life in 2021. A metamorphosis entrusted to architect Yann Montfort, who met the challenge of preserving the restaurant's original spirit. The arrival of Chef Giuliano Sperandio also sent a fresh breath of air through the menu: that of traditional gastronomic cuisine, both upper-class and resolutely focused on the future. Creative yet respectful of the restaurant's heritage, his approach is to update the culinary experience without altering the very essence of Le Taillevent, in recipes in tune with the seasons. The talent of Pastry Chef Émilie Couturier adds a touch of excellence in desserts of amazing delicacy.

Constantly reinventing itself, Le Taillevent is a destination in itself alone for gourmets wanting to live an experience unique worldwide: a restaurant upholding the great French tradition.
